ESL & TESOL Instructors

Virginia International University is seeking part-time ESL Instructors and adjunct TESOL instructors for the English Language Programs Department for the Fall 2009 semester (August 31 – December 21).

ESL classes are held between 9:00 am and 3:00 pm, Mondays through Thursdays. Classes are held at one to two intervals per week. ESL courses include pronunciation, speaking and listening, grammar, reading and writing, and content-based electives at all levels of English language proficiency: elementary, intermediate, and advanced. TESOL courses include Introduction to Languages and Linguistics, Language Acquisition Theories, and Special Topics in TESOL (possible topics include Curriculum&Materials Design, Intercultural Communication, or Assessment).

Requirements: Applicants must have TESL, TESOL, or equivalent credentials and experience, as well as an interest in working with a very diverse community of learners. Minimum requirements for TESOL include an MA in TESOL, or an MA degree plus 18 graduate credits in TESOL.

Compensation for ESL courses is $25+/hour, depending on credentials and experience.
Compensation for TESOL courses is $1,500-3,250 per course, depending on credentials and course enrollment.
