Responsibilities:
The core responsibility of the Assistant Academic Specialist is to provide international students with a foundation for academic success in their studies at Northeastern University. This is a 12-month appointment with responsibilities in English Language (ESL) teaching, academic advising, administration and program support. Our programs prepare international students for success through purpose-designed classes in intensive English and the academic disciplines, as well as ongoing cultural and academic orientation.

We are seeking proactive individuals who have a genuine interest in helping international students achieve their goals and are willing to work in a non-traditional educational environment. We value instructors who are academically focused and hold rigorous standards in the classroom. We also look for team players who support our institutional identity and who will participate enthusiastically in program implementation and development.

Qualifications:
Candidates should have a minimum of a master’s degree in a relevant field, a minimum of three years experience teaching international students in a higher education environment, experience teaching in the American classroom, and proven administrative ability. Substantial background in an academic discipline, e.g. Engineering, Humanities, Social Sciences, Mathematics, or Business is preferred.

Additional Information:
This is a non-tenure track, renewable full-time position with occasional evening and weekend responsibilities.
