We are also a leading provider of reference and trade publishing for the medical, business, engineering and other professions.McGraw-Hill Education has an immediate opening for an Editorial Coordinator based in New York City. The Editorial Coordinator will support the publishing manager in driving the on-time and on-budget development of all products.  Essential responsibilities include the following:
- Team with publishing manager and development editors to resolve all issues associated with scheduling, freelance staffing, or other concerns in the service of delivering complete programs to market on established dates
- Recruit and vet new freelance editors, writers, copyeditors, indexers, and proofreaders, creating, updating, and maintaining a database of such editorial specialists
- Build and maintain editorial procedures manual in electronic and soft copy, working with editorial, marketing, and production to collect and update information and documents
- Work with production manager to build and maintain database of designers and artists with portfolio samples
- Manage reprint process, including hiring and coordinating proofreaders and working with reprints coordinator at archive facility in Dubuque to ensure accuracy of all correctionsÂ
- Manage customer reviews of projects at the pre-contract stage
- Manage correlations process for all products in coordination with marketing team, creating schedules, hiring specialists, writing guidelines, and conducting quality checks
- Organize meetings with all interested regions 3 months before anticipated pub date for each key product to update everyone on projected dates and gather information about any needed pre-pub items
- Coordinate customer and sales requests for pre-publication copies, responding to requests and working with administrative coordinator to get these delivered
- Survey and canvass resources across The McGraw-Hill Companies for best practices in the area of process management, providing recommendations for process improvement on regular basis
Qualifications
B.A. TESOL or equivalent
Minimum 2 years educational publishing experience
Excellent organizational skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
