This ten- month, tenure track faculty position reports to the Chair of the Division of Humanities and Fine Arts. The successful applicant will have primary responsibility for developing and implementing a viable ESL program and curriculum at the college. Teaching assignments mainly include ESL courses, although other courses (e.g., introductory composition and developmental English) may be assigned. The applicant must have a history of effective teaching at the collegiate level and possess knowledge of educational technologies (e.g., Web-based and/or Web-enhanced instruction). The position also requires serving on division and college committees, advising students and providing student support.

A Master’s Degree in English as a Second Language (ESL) is required (an earned doctorate is preferred) with a minimum of eighteen graduate semester hours (thirty-quarter hours) in English and/or Applied Linguistics, ESL or TESOL. Preference will be given to applicants who also have experience teaching ESL courses at the collegiate level. Additional consideration will be given to applicants who meet certification requirements in a related discipline such as English, reading, speech communication or a foreign language as well as a background in ESL program development/administration and evaluation/testing. The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate the ability to provide quality instruction to students with diverse backgrounds and effectively collaborate and cooperate with other members of the faculty, staff, and administration.

The salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience within the budgetary parameters of the college and of the University System of Georgia.
