[Information about Itaewon]
Itaewon is a neighborhood in Yongsan-gu, Seoul, which is considered to be an international borough beckoning travelers and expat residents to its shopping, restaurants, and vibrant nightlife. It is home to about 22,000 people, however, between 4000-5000 reportedly visit the commercial district daily. Itaewon is thick with people of various nationalities, as well as large numbers of US military personnel from the nearby Yongsan Garrison. Due to the area’s ethnic diversity, Itaewon is home to restaurants serving cuisine from many parts of the world, including India, Thailand, and Mexico, cuisines which are not common in Korea. The Seoul Central Mosque is also located in Itaewon, and there are a number of halal food stores.

Itaewon is also, along with Insa-dong and Seoul Tower, one of the most popular areas in Seoul for tourists. Major hotel chains, such as the Hyatt, can be found here as well as dozens of shops and services aimed at tourists. Some of the best leather products in Korea can be found here at reasonable prices (bartering is expected) as well as all sorts of trinkets and souvenirs.

There were also many brothels that service military personnel from Yongsan garrison and the UN base as well as visitors from other countries. The traditional center of prostitution activity in the area is Hooker Hill. Prostitution was rampant here until mid-2000 when a US military curfew coupled with a nation-wide crackdown resulted in prostitutes moving elsewhere or even abroad. Despite attempts at reducing prostitution in the area, brothels still exist and are quite easy to find. [Source from http://wiki.galbijim.com]

ABOUT THE COUNTY
From brilliant sunsets to melodic birdsongs, to the flavors and aroma of fresh grilled seafood, life in Uljin is nothing but sensory. Apart from the denizens who have carved retreats in the county a growing number of Koreans and ex-pats have been lucky enough to discover one of Korea’s best kept secret. Stretches of virgin beaches slope ever so gently into the East Sea. Uljin is transforming the town into the hottest destination for seaside living. It is a coastal town with 9 hotels, numerous inns, natural spas, several resorts, beaches, caves, waterfalls, valleys and temples. The county has a distinct regional charm with panoramic sights, its coastline dotted with small fishing villages. On winter, Uljin is definite holiday destination for Koreans because of two centuries-old hot springs. The hot springs in Deokgu is the nation’s only naturally flowing hot spring with an average temperature rising around 41.3 Celsius. The quality of the sulfur alkaline water is known to exceed that of Japan’s Beppu Hot Spring in Kyushu. The other hot spring, Baekam in Onjeong-ri is also a sulfur-rich spring and was first discovered during the Shilla Kingdom (57 B.C. – A.D. 935). By the Goryeo Dynasty (935-1392) a large bathing place for the travelers had already sprung up around it. The pavilions at Mangyangjeong and Wolseongjong are also famous in the nearby Gwan-dong area for their stunning views of the rising sun on New Year’s Day. The place is also known for its lip-smacking-good giant snow crab dish

THE JOB
Guest English Teachers GETs are required to conduct English conversation classes to Korean primary and secondary school students as part of the Korean government’s aim to promote and strengthen English language education. A candidate should have a strong sense of creativity and motivation as well as enjoy working with learners from various age groups as part of an academic team. Teachers are expected to focus on the development of oral communication skills using interactive teaching methods. These positions are contingent upon the satisfactory outcome (as determined by the board) of the pre-employment screening activities (including criminal history check and medical check) as required under the Korean Immigration procedures and the Korean Ministry of Education bylaws.

TEAM TEACHING SCHEME (ESL Co-teaching Scheme with Several Korean English Teachers)
Although, ideally the goal of the program is to carry on the entire English learning experience only in English, the ex-pat teacher does not exclusively do it. As per the EPIK’s procedure, each native teacher is paired with several Korean English teachers to successfully prepare and execute every lesson for the whole school year. The Korean English teachers are in charge primarily to handle issues of classroom management and collaborate with instruction and class preparation. They are also task to communicate effectively the curriculum goals of the district for the school year as well as help the expat teacher settle in Korea.

Want to travel & get paid for it? Teach English in Korea! Even without cash, you can pursue your overseas adventure, have cross-cultural experience, and positively impact the lives of others as well as yours. ESL Job Network in cooperation with the district office of education invites degree holders to teach English in Korean public schools nationwide

If you are a native speaker with degree and have a sense of adventure plus a modicum of nerve, ESL Job Network can help you turn your dream of living abroad into reality! With our extensive network in the industry and insiders’ firsthand accounts of latest employment trends and openings (we’re locally based & competently multi-lingual) we are everything you need to launch a successful overseas job search in Korea.

THE LOCATION:

Giseung is located in rural Gyeongbuk Province in the east coast. A sleepy town with hectares of sprawling greenery of abundant trees, nature, and plenty of sea. Giseung has its own quiet country charm. Don’t look for glitz and glamour here, instead look for friendly country folks and laid back easy-going rural lifestyle. Here you’ll sure to encounter pleasant surprises that elude guidebooks and an opportunity to connect to true local color.

THE JOB

Guest English Teachers GETs are required to conduct English conversation classes to Korean primary and secondary school students as part of the Korean government’s aim to promote and strengthen English language education. A candidate should have a strong sense of creativity and motivation as well as enjoy working with
learners from various age groups as part of an academic team.
TEAM TEACHING SCHEME (ESL Co-teaching Scheme with Korean English Teachers)

Although, ideally the goal of the program is to carry on the entire English learning experience only in English, the ex-pat teacher does not exclusively do it. As per the EPIK’s procedure, each native teacher is paired with several Korean English teachers to successfully prepare and execute every lesson for the whole school
year. The Korean English teachers are in charge primarily to handle issues of classroom management and collaborate with instruction and class preparation. He/She is also task to communicate effectively the curriculum goals of the district for the school year as well as help the expat teacher settle in Korea.
