PRIMARY/HIGH SCHOOL TEACHER LOJA-ECUADOR

Opportunity to work in beautifully located and exclusive High School teaching primary and secondary education in Loja. The school is located at the foot of the mountains.

You would be responsible for following the curriculum, according to the books, submitting lesson plans and writing the trimestrial tests, attending parents meetings and events. Classes finish around 1pm in the afternoon. They are between 35 and 45 mins long each.See attached schedule

Accommodation: The school itself is renting out an apartment which would be chargeable around $90 per month inc bills.

Wages: $4 per hour. An hour represents a class be it 35 mins/45 mins . Looking at around 34 hours per week. Start times alter according to timetable School will pay your visa status over here if you stay a year

Spanish: Preferred but not essential

Experience: At least 2 years required

IMMEDIATE ESL TEACHER REQUIRED – CUENCA/LOJA

With respect to the CHC School:
We have about 700 students in Loja and 150 in Machala and 200 in Cuenca. We divide all students by age and level. Children up to 18 receive 1 hour daily and adults (18+) receive 2 hours daily Monday to Friday. The 1 hour student cycle runs for 5 months and the adult cycles 2.5 months.

Cambridge ESOL Courses

We have recently been approved as a Cambridge University Exam and Preparation Center This is an additional string to our bow and will also provide additional hours of teaching

University Conversation Classes (LOJA ONLY)

Teaching conversation classes at the UTPL, one of the best universities in Ecuador is a synch. You could be watching a movie, playing a game in English, helping with homework or just plain chatting.

Wages:$4 an hour with around 4+hours a day, 5 days a week and Saturday rotation

Visas:If you commit to a year we will secure and pay for a visa here in Ecuador

The school has small classes some have only 4 students, so not really a headache. Classes would be assigned on arrival according to preference and experience. So probably I should imagine you would get teen and tween classes.
You would be responsible for following the curriculum, according to the books, submitting lesson plans and writing the trimestrial tests, attending parents meetings and events. Classes finish around 1pm in the afternoon. They are between 35 and 45 mins long each.
Accommodation: The school itself is renting out an apartment which would be chargeable around $90 per month inc bills.
Wages: $400 per month . Start times alter according to timetable but could be a 7.15am start through to 1.30pm.
Additional hours in the afternoon available at the university Speak Easy Center which would be conversational classes at $4 hours daily – normal shifts 4 hours.

Ecuador: ESL TEACHER MACHALA APRIL START

Employer: Canadian House Center – Independent Language School in Loja, Machala, Ecuador

Wage: $4/hour – 4/5 hours daily.

Accommodation:rented apartment
Hours per week: Contracted to 25 teaching hours per week and lesson planning time
Work days: Five days per week.

Overtime: Opportunity for additional work through private tuition

Holidays (days and dates): Negotiable. We will try to accommodate time off as long as we are given adequate notice. Public holidays paid 50%

Health Insurance: Not provided but can arrange from $13.50 per month- It is a 1 year contract

Class size: Varies – Average 10-15, maximum 20
Class Age: All ages – children from 4; adolescents and adults. In some cases you may find yourselves teaching at additional private institutes.

Colleagues: English, American and Canadian etc. Native speakers only

Teaching task: Grammar, oral and listening English as well as partaking in all aspects and activities at the school, including culture days and events, supervision in end of year exams and administrative and organizational duties. All text and grammar books are provided. It is an easy to follow system. We provide a book system and teachers guides which includes warmer and extra activities.

Orientation Session: First week

Promotional help: Promoting the school paid at $2 an hour

Social events: Integration events with students and other teachers
Age of applicants: 22 to 45.

Education background: TESOL/TEFL/CELTA Certificate. Degree preferable but not necessary.

Language: Basic Spanish – not necessary but useful

Fancy somewhere warmer next year, want to capitalise on your teaching ability and courses, fancy giving back to society then come to the Canadian House Center. The largest private academy in Loja with other branches in Machala and Cuenca we believe that English is a right for everyone. So we employ native only teachers to teach to the population.

We have courses to suit everyone from children through to adults. We have also been appointed as an exam venue for Cambridge ESOL exams. We have contracts with the prestigious UTPL one of the best universities in Ecuador and other high schools within Loja and Cuenca.

Only positions in Loja remain which is the main HQ for CHC.

Wages: We pay $400 a month for 4 hours teaching daily including planning and marking and some promotional activity such as handing out flyers. Additional classes are available too at $4 an hour of which we also have a waiting list.
