This is the first month/ probationary rate for new teachers. It will increase over the following 3 months up to a maximum of $NT 60,000. The amount of increase will be based on the teacher’s performance, enthusiasm and flexibility. New teachers will be paid a monthly salary starting after the first week of training. New teachers will not be paid for this initial week of training).

2.2.1 The salary is for K class: 5.5 hours per day, Monday through to Friday. (usually 9:00 to 16:20 with a lunch break from 12:00-13:50).

2.2.2 Teachers will have to take the E class(es) assigned to them by the school. (usually 16:30-18:00, Monday to Friday or Monday, Wednesday and Friday.)

2.2.3 Overtime (after 16:30) and E class pay is NT$per hour taught.

2.2.4 Extra pay: A teacher who has 2K or 2E classes can get the extra pay by the amount of students in those classes. NT$100 per students.

2.2.5 There will be additional activities for each class every semester. The demonstration lessons for all K classes and E classes will usually be held in the evening. The first two evenings that you do your demo’s (one for K and one for E) will be done without compensation. If a third evening is necessary, because teachers have more than one K or E class, that evening will be paid at the over time rate. There will also be a maximum of two Saturday activities each semester. The teacher must attend and participate without extra payment. Each event will last a maximum of 5.5 hours. Extra hours and further activities will be paid at the over time rate. There will be a one-day pay deduction if the teacher fails to attend any one of the above activities.

2.2.6 Pay for telephone teaching is NT$30 per student called.

2.2.7 The pay period runs from the 1st of the month to the last day of the month. Payday is on the 15th day of the following month. If the payday falls on a holiday, the payment will be on the following working day after the holiday. Teachers should have their own account in a bank that is specified by the school. The teacher should calculate and hand in their pay sheet by the 5th of the month. Failure to do so will result in payment being made one month later.
2.2.1 Bonus:A bonus of NT$10,000 will be given to a teacher who leaves for vacation and returns from vacation at the time specified by the school. New teachers are required to attend one week of training and acclimatization classes without payment (as mentioned in 2.2.1). Head and senior teachers may be asked to return before school starts to train other teachers (payment is made at the normal teaching rate). Failure to attend the training classes when requested to do so will result in a loss of vacation bonus.
