Private Public Schools in Seoul: Over 4 Weeks Vacation

Teach in a Private Public School. This opportunity is unlike a hagwon (private language institute) because you teach a public school curriculum, work public school hours, and still get the benefit of an extended vacation allowance.

Location:

There are two locations available. The first minutes away from the Shinchon area of Seoul. This is a foreigners paradise. The nightlife is unrivaled in South Korea due to the abundance of Universities and the placement of Western style amenities in the immediate vicinity.

The second position is in the Nowon region of Seoul. The scenic, mountainous landscape offers a welcome alternative to the concrete jungle typical of many other areas. This is certainly one of the cleanest and most picturesque regions in South Korea.

Work Term:

One year contract beginning March 2, 2009.

Compensation and Benefits:

The salary ranges from 2.0-2.1 Million Won paid monthly, based on experience.

In addition, the successful applicants will receive:

  • Furnished apartment rent free OR 300,000Won housing allowance
  • Reimbusement of airfare (within 5 business days of the presentation of receipt)
  • Full month’s salary completion bonus after the contract completion
  • Optional overtime OR paid vacation during 4 week long camp period
  • Medical and Pension contributions
  • All National and School Holidays paid vacation

Qualifications:

Successful applicants MUST have native level English proficiency (born in an English speaking country like Canada, USA, England, Ireland, South Africa, New Zealand, or Australia) and have a 4-year University degree.

Job Description:

Teaching in a Private Public School setting, the teacher will follow the clear parameters of a curriculum. This sponsors consistency while still allowing for creativity on the teacher’s part. The position requires 100 teaching hours monthly; classes are 40 minutes long. Korean co-teachers offer simplicity regarding administration and classroom management.

Canadians notarized at Korean consulate (no more than 6 months old)
- 4-Year Bachelors degree
- 2 Sets of university transcripts
- Passport with at least 6 months left on it

- 4 passport sized photos
