JOB DETAILS

LOCATION: South Korea, Gangwon Province, Sokcho/Yangyang area. – East coast, North Province, Seaside location
DUTIES:
-Teaching English (speaking, listening, writing, and reading) and English teaching skills to public school English teachers.
-Teaching English to 6th grade Elementary and 8th grade Middle school students in a one-week, camp-style situation
EMPLOYER: Gangwon Province Office of Education (Gov’t)
WORK TERM: 1 year contract
START DATE: October 1st, 2009 ~ September 30th, 2010
WORK HOURS: 40 regular work hours per week, 9am ~ 5pm. 5~10 scheduled overtime work (teaching) hours (paid of course). Contact hours: 22 per week including overtime teaching

BASIC REQUIREMENTS:

Native English Speaker with a good command of the English Language
Be a citizen of one of the 8 major English speaking countries (Canada, Australia, England, New Zealand, South Africa, Scotland, Ireland, USA)
4-year Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university (Employer will check)
Be physically and mentally healthy
Have the ability and willingness to adapt to living in Korea

Applicant’s degree be in English or Education
Applicant has prior camp experience

Can lead a talent-based activity class (music, drama, sports etc.)

BENEFITS

1) SALARY:
Level C: 2.5 Million Won per Month – Basic requirements (see above)
Level B: 2.7 Million Won per Month – Applicant holds one of the following:
- Teacher’s Certificate for elementary or secondary school
- A TESOL/TEFL Certificate comprised of a minimum of 100 course hours
- A Master’s Degree
-A bachelor’s degree with at least one year of full time teaching English experience at accredited institutions (in Korea or otherwise)
Level A: 2.9 Million Won per Month – Applicant hold one of the following:
- A Teacher’s Certificate for Elementary or Secondary school, with at least two years of full time teaching experience at accredited institutions
- A TESOL/TEFL Certificate comprised of a minimum of 100 course hours with at least two years of full time teaching experience at accredited institutions.
- A Master’s Degree with at least two years full time teaching experience at accredited institutions
- Consecutive one year as a Level B teacher within the jurisdictional school of Gangwon-do Office of Education
2) AIRFARE: Round-trip airfare provided.
3) COMPLETION BONUS: A bonus equal to one month’s salary is provided upon contract completion.
4) MEDICAL INSURANCE: 50% of medical coverage is covered by employer.
5) SETTLEMENT ALLOWANCE: A one-time settlement remittance of 300,000Won is offered.
6) TRANSPORTATION ALLOWANCE: A Monthly transportation allowance of 100,000Won is offered. (in addition to regular salary)
7) ACCOMMODATION: Brand new fully furnished 2 bedroom apt. Sea view, 10 min. away from workplace by car.
8) VACATION DAYS: 25 Paid Vacation days
9) SICK DAYS: 11 paid sick days (additional unpaid days may be requested if needed)
10) WORKPLACE AMMENITIES: Rooftop Seaside Café, private beach, auditorium with stage and light & sound system, ample teaching resources provided, high tech teaching tools (computers everywhere, touch-screen whiteboards, color laser printers, all new equipment and facilities, sports equipment, fully equipped exercise gym, cafeteria, small forest, outdoor activity area: (sand volleyball court, basketball court, soccer area), sea-view staff office large sunny well-equipped classrooms, trained computer expert on-site
