My name is Jerome and I am the current English teacher at this school. I enjoy my job but I am now married and will be moving out of the area shortly to be with my wife. As such, a great job is up for grabs.

Company: Yeong-Jae Academy

Pay: 2.1-2.3 million won per month without experience OR 2.3-2.5 million won per month with at least 1 year experience

Location: Suwon (35-40 minutes from Seoul by subway, on the dark blue line)

Hours: 2-9 PM (classes start at 2:30 and finish at 8:45, the extra 45 minutes is meant for prep time… The max time is 30 hours per week in the classroom. I work significantly less than that).

Classes: Grades elementary school 1 through middle school 3. Each class is from 40-45 minutes long and you get a 5 minute break between classes.

Housing: You will be provided a fairly large one room apartment (I live there now and it is a bit bigger than any of my friends).

Co-teachers: There are several co-teachers that are very helpful. (Especially with punishment.) You will be the only foreigner, so no drama.

Airfare: Round-trip airfare will be provided, given that you finish your contract.

Bonus Pay: At the end of your contract, you will get 1 months pay. Also, there are usually gifts associated with major Korean holidays.

All said and done, I have been very happy here.
