THE SCHOOL

Gimhae Foreign Language High School, or GIMFL, is a public, coeducational, college preparatory high school founded in 2006 with the stated aim of “helping students achieve their dreams in becoming future global leaders”. It is the only public foreign language school in Gyeongsangnam-do province, Korea, and was co-founded by the Office of Gyeongnam Education and Gimhae city. The school sits at the foot of a flora covered hillside. It is located in the new town of Jangyu, which is only a short distance from Gimhae, Busan, and Changwon. Each summer the Office of Gyeongnam Education and Gimhae city fund full scholarships for special activities such as touring the Ivy League universities of the United States. Like most schools in Korea, GIMFL’s school year begins in March, the second semester begins in September, and graduation takes place in February.

- Job Type: Regular English Teacher
- Housing: Rent Free Fully Furnished Solo Flat (located in-campus)
- Teaching Hours: 20 Weekly Teaching Hours
- Employment Period: One Year Contract ONLY
- Paid Sick Leave: 7 Days + 60 Days Paid Maternity Leave
- 19 Days Add On Paid Leave (7 Days Matrimony, 7 Days Spousal/Parental Death, 5 Days Child Death)
- Paid Vacation: 21 Calendar Days PLUS 12 Statutory Days = 32 Days of Paid Leave

QUALIFICATION LEVEL AND PAY SCALE

LEVEL 1++:
Level 1 + four consecutive years of teaching at GNET

LEVEL 1+: 2.5 million KRW 2 consecutive years as a Level 1 within GNET

LEVEL 1: 2.3 million KRW
2 years of teaching experience with one of the following:
Master’s degree
Teacher’s/TEFL/TESOL/CELTA (100+hrs) Certificate
Major in Education, English Education or English Language/Literature
Contract renewal as a Level 2+ at the same POE

LEVEL 2: 2.1million KRW
MUST HAVE ONE OF THE FOLLOWING
Teacher’s/TEFL/TESOL/CELTA (100+hrs) Certificate
Major in Education, English Education or English Language/Literature
Bachelor’s degree plus 1 yr full-time teaching experience
Master’s degree in any discipline

LEVEL 3: 2 Million KRW
Bachelor’s degree in any discipline

TAX FREE- Tax Exemption for 2 years
- Except Canadians due to lack of Tax Treaty between Canada and the Republic of Korea
- Former E2 visa holders with at least 2 years of teaching experience in Korea are not covered
