Teach English - Nationwide, Korea | ESL TEFL Job
2 Edutainers NEEDED at a Government Funded & Run English Village and Cyber School
Instead of the usual for profit “cram-school” gigs at privately run language schools; why not opt for a teaching post at student-centered English Towns where English is not learned, but lived with fanfare as you help facilitate vital cultural exchanges and life affirming moments. At CN English Village and Cyber School students arrived on style as they “disembark” from pretend jet’s cross-section, going through “customs & immigration” all the while speaking English. Here at the village instead of giving lectures and delivering lessons by rote, you will be more like actors on a movie set acting with students as you cruise the venue’s thematic units, practicing English in real-life scenarios.
English Village Approach to TESL (Teaching English as a Second Language)
Korea has emerged as a role model for creative and innovative English training strategies with the result being an overall improvement of English proficiency among young adults and children. The concept of an English Village in Asia began in Korea several years ago. This model finds the student immersed in a real world situation such as ordering at a café where they are able to perform language tasks in English as opposed to sitting at the back of a class. This hands-on program has proved very effective and successful and has lead to numerous other English villages springing up all over Korea including an 85 million dollar (U.S.) town complete with a staff of live-in foreign teachers. Japan has now also embraced the English Village mode, and in 2006 an education bureau in Taiwan follow suit.
About CN English Village
CN English Village and Cyber School serves the local community where students from the district check into a hotel, shop, bank, order food, take cooking lessons, acting classes and even make short documentary films — all in English. Inside the English Village, guests-learners arrive each week from local schools, checking their Korean language at the door. They receive pretend passports, pass through an imitation immigration procedure and head to a bank to receive local currency, which looks like fake dollar bills. All operations at the facilities of the village are conducted in English. Moreover, the village is designed to provide various programs so that participants can improve their English skills and learn the cultures of English-speaking countries. The local government unit that runs the facility expects that it will help reduce soaring private ESL tutoring costs and the trend of early overseas study for children.
The Cyber School
Aside from being an English Immersion venue that provides real-life English speaking opportunities, CN English Village also operates a cyber English school for locals. This is the local government’s outreach service to bridge the language divide among Koreans. At the cyber school department within the village native teachers are given individual workstations equipped with hi-speed internet connection, head-set, webcam, and customized computer program. This program allows teachers to talk, chat, do worksheets, read, and use a whiteboard.
