Asia Assistant Language Teacher
The City of Phoenix, Phoenix Sister Cities, and the Himeji Board of Education sponsor a long-standing Teach Abroad program in our sister city of Himeji, Japan.
Candidates for the Assistant Language Teacher position may or may not have teaching experience, but must have a four-year degree (any major), be a U.S. citizen and be a resident of the Phoenix Metropolitan Area, and enjoy working with children in a structured school environment and have a strong sense of adventure! No Japanese language knowledge required. Through Teach Abroad, college graduates sign 1-2 year contracts (beginning in September and ending in August each year with the chance to renew) with the Himeji Board of Education. They will then travel to and live in Himeji, where they will assist in teaching English at the local elementary, middle, and high schools. Airfare is paid to/from Japan and a modern apartment building is subsidized for program participants, which include fellow Arizonians, Brits, Canadians, and Australians!
More information and the Teach Abroad application can be found at www.phoenixsistercities.org/teach-abroad. The deadline to apply for the Fall 2018 academic year is February 9, 2018.
