Nagoya University of Commerce & Business invites applications for positions as Associate/Assistant Professor of English as a foreign language for 1 September 2009 commencement.
Appointment rank and salary will be determined by experience and qualification.
Founded in 1953, Nagoya University of Commerce and Business is situated on an exceptionally beautiful campus in the most economically productive region of Japan: Nagoya. It consistently receives a high academic ranking and is strongly committed to global standards for excellence in scholarship and research. It is one of the only two Japanese universities accredited by AACSB International. It comprises of just over 3,500 students and 100 teaching staff. About 30 of the teaching staff are from abroad.
The initial contract of employment is for 2 years, renewable thereafter on mutual consent. Faculty may be eligible for applying for tenure after four years of service. We offer a competitive salary scheme, which includes an annual bonus and an end-of-contract bonus, as well as an excellent benefits package.
Applicants must:
·Hold or be close to completing a language/education related Doctorate
·Be published in the field
·Have substantial higher education teaching experience in teaching English as a Foreign Language
·Be a native speaker of English or have near native speaker English proficiency
In addition, applicants must have excellent teaching, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Faculty members are expected to maintain office hours, attend faculty meetings, conduct research, publish, and participate in all university functions.
