IT English Teachers Wanted, Peking University (09-10 Year)

What:      Full-time IT English Instructors for students in Master in Engineering and enterprise training. Two positions opened on academic year base and one on semester base.

Where:     Beijing Daxing Campus and Wuxi Base Campus, School of Software and Microelectronics, Peking University (PKU)

When:      From Sept. 13, 2009 to January 25, 2010 for semester term and From Sept.6 2009 to July 12, 2010 for academic term. Arrive at Beijing or Wuxi no later than Sept. 10, 2009.

Job Description: The average weekly teaching load (in-class instruction) for each teacher is 15~18 hours, plus 15 hours on course preparation and homework correction, 2 office hours and faculty meeting. All the classrooms are installed with multi-media equipments. A series of well-organized ppt files for all class sessions are required to be provided and up-loaded to school website before each session begins.

Students: Most of students are juniors in their master’s program in the fields of software engineering, financial engineering, technical management, telecommunication, e-business, and digital art. They will be divided into separate classes, with 35~45 people in each class. Each class will meet 15~16 three-hour sessions in a semester.

Compensation

A stipend of RMB8,000 per month, nine-month payment for a whole academic year service, or four and a half month payment for a semester service. One no payment month in Chinese New Year.

Faculty-housing provided both in Beijing and Wuxi campus and all utilities paid by the school.

Bonuses provided based on candidate’s overload duty and/or work, and excellent in her/him performance in the end of academic year.

Reimbursement to his/her first time visa application and medical inspection and roundtrip airfares up to US$1,500 for a semester service. Additional US$1,000 travel credit for an academic year service. Both reimbursement and travel credit will be redeemed to him/her with valid invoices and receipts.

Candidate Requirements:

Have at least a bachelor’s degree, master or higher preferred;

Have demonstrated his/her capability on teaching English; especially in IT related fields.

Be with reasonable background in the field of IT and some interest and/or knowledge in Chinese culture (preferred.)

English as her/his native language
