Teach English in Brunei - Increased tax-free salary packages! 

This is a chance to join CfBT’s innovative and expanding ELT projects in Brunei Darussalam, where we are contracted to manage and support over 250 teachers in state schools. In 2008, you could play a key role in providing better opportunities for local children. These positions include partnership with local teachers, supporting the introduction of a new national curriculum, assessment for learning and interactive approaches for teaching English.

CfBT support includes recruitment, briefing and orientation course on arrival. All teachers have access to welfare support, Education Centres and excellent opportunities for professional development.

CfBT has been established in Brunei since 1985, following the introduction of the bilingual education policy, to provide native English speaking teachers to improve the standard of English Language Teaching in primary and secondary schools. 

 Qualification

The following new criteria for qualifications have recently been agreed with the Brunei Ministry of Education.

Secondary Teachers:
Degree - preferably in English, Linguistics or Humanities and
Qualified Teacher Status - Post Graduate Certificate of Education, Bachelor of Education, Diploma of Teaching or Cambridge/Trinity Diploma in TESOL.
Minimum three years teaching experience including one year ESL teaching.

Below 55 years of age on initial engagement (Brunei Government regulation).

Primary Teachers:
Degree - preferably in English, Linguistics or Humanities and
Qualified Teacher Status - Post Graduate Certificate of Education, Bachelor of Education, Diploma of Teaching or Cambridge/Trinity Diploma in TESOL.
or
Qualified Teacher Status - Certificate of Education and TEFL qualification
Minimum three years teaching experience including one year ESL teaching for degree holders and five years experience for non-graduate teachers.
Below 52 years of age on initial engagement (Brunei Government regulation).

In order to meet with Brunei Ministry of Education approval, all applicants must have completed their basic and tertiary education in one of the following countries:
Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Republic of Ireland, South Africa or United Kingdom.

Current driving licence.

Salary range B$3,000 - B$5,000 per month with annual increments.
Completion of Contract Bonus of one sixth total salary earned during the contract period (Range B$12,500-B$20,500 for intial two-year contracts)
Free accommodation or accommodation allowance.
Education Allowance for up to two accompanying children (secondary only) or three children for teaching couples.
Allowance for spouse (B$250 per month) and infants (B$150 per month) (secondary only)
Return airfares and baggage allowance
Travel allowance payments for subsequent contracts
Settling in allowance (B$500 - B$1500)
Medical insurance
Re-signing bonus
ICELT, ICT and Malay courses
