Innsbruck, Austria Kindergarten teaching assistant




British teaching assistants for our English Kindergarten (3 to 6 year olds) required.

2 to 3 positions will be available in 2010. One of them beginning around 1st March/April 2010, the others around 1st September 2010.

Basic job description:

Helping daily (mornings) to teach British English to, primarily Austrian, Kindergarten children aged 3 to 6 years, and to 6 to 10 year olds one afternoon a week. You must be willing to also muck in and do your share of cleaning duties with other staff members.Personal requirements:

British national; young; dynamic; team-work and self-initiative; good sense of humour; lots of common sense; creative; excellent and well-spoken British English language skills; responsible, but also be fun-loving and adventurous; love children and animals; reliable; punctual; honest; discrete; healthy and loyal. You should be willing to commit to a longer period (e.g. 18 months to 2 years).

Prefered education:

Should you not have any of the below named qualifications, but have a high school education and the right attitude to working with children, you could still be considered for the job. So don’t be put off, you may still be just the right person for the job.

German language knowledge is NOT a requirement for these positions! British English native-speaker is.

‘A’ or ‘AS’ level in English Language; OR a BA in English, languages or education; OR a degree in child-care; OR recognised TEFL/TESOL certificate; OR Kindergarten teaching experience; OR a PGCE primary school degree; or similar.

What we offer is the following:

1.) Paid accomodation. A 2-bedroom (for 2 to 3 staff members – 1 twin & 1 single room), fully self-contained flat with a garden and mountain view, which is a five minute walk from work, five minute walk to the river promenade and five minute bus ride into the town centre. Innsbruck is not only a traditional winter holiday resort, it is also a university city, so there are lots of students here, plenty to do and plenty of night life. Should you want to use the washing machine and dryer, and have internet access you will have to cover the costs yourself (30.- Euros per month).

2.) Paid health insurance (includes doctors, dentists and hospital) and pension coverage.

3.) An Austrian telephone with: per month – 300 minutes of free talking time to any EU country (includes England, of course), 300 free minutes talking time and free smss within Austria.

4.) 400.- euros per month in cash (to buy food etc.)

5.) Babysitting jobs and other extra work (e.g. organising extra birthday parties in the institute) for you to be able to earn extra cash for yourself, should you wish to do so.

6.) 25 days paid holiday (500.- euros paid holiday). Other holiday days are unpaid. Please note that holidays may only be taken during the official school holidays (2 weeks Christmas/New Year, 1 week half term in February, 10 days at Easter and 4 weeks in August).

7.) Other small perks.

Only applicants who hold a valid EU passport and have well-spoken British English will be considered. We cannot obtain work permits for non EU members! We expect you to be a responsible adult person with an excellent, composed attitude to work.
