The job advertised here is with the USAID funded Higher Education Project to support capacity building at universities with teacher colleges throughout Afghanistan.

Duties & Responsibilities:
The Training and Language Facilitator will be responsible for the timely and accurate written translations of short texts, training materials, educational articles and other written documents of the project on a regular basis. The post holders will assist in the design, writing, organization and facilitation of training and mentoring events. The Training and Language Facilitator is expected to:

1. Read English, Dari or Pashto versions of all materials to ensure complete understanding of texts and confer with colleagues before initiating written translations.

2. Translate materials efficiently and accurately to meet stringent reviews and deadlines.

3. Assist in the design, writing and translation of training materials.

4. Assist in the organization and facilitation of training and mentoring events.

5. Review and give feedback on documents sent by the institutes.

6. Meet regularly with project team members to coordinate activities and update progress.

7. Maintain close, friendly and professional relations with the sixteen teacher training institutes.

8. Travel widely within Afghanistan to conduct training event and mentoring visits to the institutes.

9. Undertake other tasks as may be assigned by the supervisor.

This is a medium level management position in a project that began in January 2006 and ends in January 2011. USAID and HEP do not discriminate on the basis of ethnicity or gender.
 
Qualifications A minimum of a BA degree from a recognized university in education, management or a related field to the job description above.

Proficiency in written and oral English.

Degree studies in a related field preferred.

Two years experience in a similar position with an NGO engaged in education development can substitute for a graduate degree.

Previous training or teaching experience highly essential.
